What is your role at PM+U?
As MD I lead our brilliant team. My role involves driving performance and value at each of our centres. It’s about maintaining excellent standards and ensuring we have strong relationships with clients, retailers and centre managers.
What would you say is your biggest contribution?
I would say the art of Property Management is achieving balance. It’s about listening to everyone; landlords, asset managers and tenants, ensuring everyone’s opinion is understood and everyone feels satisfied with decisions.
What do you enjoy about working at PM+U?
No two days are the same and it’s a challenge. It keeps me on my toes.
How would you describe the PM+U culture?
We definitely work hard but it’s fun too. I think that’s what being a challenger company is about. You have to work but be playful too. You shouldn’t be coming to work and not having some fun.
What would your super power be?
Time travel - so I could learn from the past and influence the future.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Your name and your reputation are your most valuable commodity.
Dream dinner party guests, dead or alive?
Nelson Mandela, Margaret Thatcher, Sean Fitzpatrick (NZ rugby champion) and Billy Connolly.
When are you happiest?
Being from South Africa, the beach with friends is my happy place.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A surgeon; I like the idea of doing something truly helpful and also I like puzzles.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
A trip to the Antarctic. It’s quiet and unspoilt by mankind. Also it would allow me to be completely anti-social and just switch off.
Finally, what’s your moto for life?
Have fewer imaginary problems.
